Olivia - Christmas For Two

45 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

What's not to love about Canadian singer Olivia's sweet and uplifting ode to a romantic Christmas? It encapsulates everything that is rapturous about falling in love with someone - and how these feelings seem amplified at the most wonderful time of the year. Her single Christmas For Two is as charming as a Doris Day film and just as timeless. Thanks to an effusive shuffling percussion that conjures up the sound of sleighs gliding through snow, and a lightly floating whistle melody that brings to mind the sound of robin red breasts in the stark trees of winter Olivia paints a canvas of the season that is just as vivid and delightful as the song's playful accompanying video. With her guitar, Olivia sings with an endearing yearning of her feelings for someone and her one wish this year is that these feelings are reciprocated. It's a mellifluous journey that's sung with such earnest sincerity by Olivia that it prevents the song from becoming twee - instead the melody resonates and stirs memories (past and present) of times when you've been in that situation yourself. You'll soon be singing along to those clever lyrics (that draw on every Christmas tradition you can imagine) and grabbing the one you love (or want to love) and shimmy with an elegant glamour. It's like an aural hug to get your festive momentum going. PS, do take time to watch the video - it really brings back the youthful enthusiasm for this time of year. I love that in the credits there was not only a snowman builder but a snowball fight stunt co-ordinator! GENIUS!
