First of all, Sabrina Carpenter told us that It's Finally Christmas (2013) before enticing us to explore Silver Nights with our loved ones last year (2014). She's back this year with another welcome addition to her annual holiday single tradition and wants us to know that it should be Christmas The Whole Year Round. Hey, as someone who starts celebrating once I've seen The Nightmare Before Christmas on Hallowe'en I'm all for it. And it's a wholly persuasive argument as it's set to a propulsive beat so giddy and exhilarating that it's as if it has transported you to whizzing on your ice skates around Central Park, cheeks flushed with glee. The joyful and triumphant aura continues to radiate with jingling bells and a shimmering melody - both of which contribute to the euphoric, hand-clap nature of the score that guides Sabrina's engaging lyrical singing through this mellifluous wonderland. She sings of all the goodness and kindness that permeates the world during the Yuletide season, of how there seems to be a little more love and understanding from mankind as they celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Her effusive delivery makes the ebullient melody all the more deliriously catchy, the message of the words and music all the more exuberantly emphatic - that, what if, we capture these sentiments and infuse them into our lives every day it might just make life that little bit more special. It's an absolutely rousing performance set to an instrumental arrangement so festive that you'll ponder that the elves themselves didn't conjure this up during a break from making toys. You are swept up in the overall effect instantly and that ain't a bad thing because it leaves you feeling just magnificent. Aces.
