Scouting For Girls ~ Christmas In The Air (Tonight)

5 DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS!!

Hurrah! UK pop-indie group, Scouting For Girls, have done some rather excellent songs in their time so I'm rather delighted that they've decided to embrace Christmas and pen a number to celebrate the festive season. It's an absolute doozy of a song too - the type of song that should be nestled at the top of the charts and performed on Christmas top of the pops on the big day (Santa's birthday). It's called Christmas In The Air (Tonight) and the lads have clearly immersed themselves in seasonal influences to create this track - the piano tinkles like icicles forming on the greenest of evergreen trees whilst the percussion shuffles along like a sleigh ride through the snow. The guitar strumming is as warming as a cup of hot cocoa and Roy's engaging vocals conjure up the wide eyed excitement that sometimes only the Yuletide can bring. Lyrically it examines all the things that we now associate with December 25th and how, even things like late night shopping with the masses can seem that little bit more magical. Plus, aren't emotions always heightened at Christmas? So if you are in love or find love or just in love with the idea of love, it all seems to glow that little bit brighter when the happiness of the most wonderful time of the year descends on us. This song is a true gift - a lovely languorous sing-a-long number that makes your heart thump with tidings of glad joy. Exquisite.
