Read my review of the song Holiday Feels here
One year later, I still have all the holiday feels for all aspects of Nabiha's Holiday Feels seasonal song - that vintage style cover art, the melancholy of the lyrics and the gorgeous simmering melody that wraps around you like the warmest winter coat. If this had been Nabiha's only contribution to Christmas music it would have been an elegant, timeless one that satisfied me for years to come. I'm delighted to discover, however, that the talented singer-songwriter has turned the elegiac beauty into an EP of new songs - and Just Want You is as enchanting as last year's entry. The song is a sassy, sensuous number which puts Nabiha's gorgeous vocal alongside the soul greats of generations past - the funky licks, playful keyboard riffs and brassy horns elevate her shimmering voice to celestial new heights; she sings her tale of desire with melodic majesty caressing each word with a searing fervour that is nigh on tangible. Add in those sumptuous backing vocals and it not only feels part lost Jill Scott classic but part glittering 60s girl group extravaganza. While she certainly wears her influences on her sleeve, this is to her benefit as her own talent and personality shines through and Just Want You, like Holiday Feels, is pure Nabiha. A lovely new and vibrant addition to your holiday (feels) playlist. Now join me in a few weeks when I check in on her other new song, New Year's Eve...
