39 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

Richard Marx (who clearly has a painting in his attic which ages for him whilst he stays timeless) is no stranger to seasonal music. He has a whole Christmas album from 2012 called Christmas Spirit, which still remains a holiday playlist standard. Two years ago he co-wrote Happy New Year Old Friend with Chely Wright for her Christmas EP, Santa Will Find You (see review here), then was so enamoured with his creation that he recorded it himself last year (see review here). He's back this year with a brand new sort-of-Christmas song called Holiday. Co-written with his son Lucas, this is a vibrant, lushly textured pop romp all about how you can make it through the bad times (and let's face it, 2020 will go down in history as a "bad time") as long as you cling to those you love. The resilience of the world's greatest emotion is on full display as Richard sings with passionate sincerity about how that special someone can bring alive the joy of special days when you are feeling down and blue. Not only is it a finger clicking, sing-along groove, it is actually a really smart pop song. It references Christmas and New Year with invigorating glee so sounds great during the most wonderful time of the year. But really it is about keeping the magic of those times with you all year long - so is the cure for what ails you January - December whenever you need an endorphin boost. EPIC.
