I'm all for an annual seasonal song and (almost) one year to the day since Victor Crone released These Days (Longing For Christmas) as the antidote to the awful year we'd all endured he has returned with a brand new single, Christmas Time. This one is a real beauty of a song - a chugging sleigh ride of a percussive groove, infused with guitar licks that heighten the anticipation within the lyrics and Victor's resonant tones infusing the words with a shimmering magic. I love a song all about the excitement of the countdown to Christmas and the evocative lyrics conjure up images of wintry wonderlands and gorgeous decorated spaces; there is an exhilaration to the music that sweeps you up in these emotions and helps even the most jaded see the season through the wide eyed wonder of someone who just appreciates every moment of when the world seems a kinder gentler place. Now, if Mr Crone wants to make these songs an annual event, I'm more than OK with that. In the meantime, revisit These Days and tell everyone you've ever met about Christmas Time.
