Kristian Noel Pedersen - Songs About Christmas

2 WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS EVE!!

Buy-stream Songs About Christmas here (Bandcamp)

Kristian Noel Pedersen may well love Christmas more than me. I mean, he sings about so much that I think he may be secretly auditioning to be the next Santa Claus. While I'm reviewing his latest seasonal project, there is plenty of icy cool festive emotion to explore through his back catalogue , each release uncovering different facets of the holidays with insightful wisdom and innovative arrangements. His latest, Songs About Christmas, is four songs of adventure and whimsy, all delivered with Kristian's engaging singing style and creative scores...
  • Christmas Feeling ~ the evocative instrumental opening feels like a music box influenced by The Nutcracker; there is a mesmerising repetition to the chiming notes as the music is gradually textured with keyboards and shuffling percussion. Kristian sings of the appeal of the season, painting a vivid picture with his lyrics whilst a swirling outro of sound conjures up images of a whirling snow storm that brings with it the promise of a wondrous new dawn. Absolutely captivating.
  • Pack Your Bags ~ this is a charming ode to the holiday road trip and the excitement of going somewhere where a winter wonderland covers the land. Gorgeous, textured vocals give the song a warm, convivial vibe whilst the radiant wall of sound feels like a cinematic soundtrack to some wondrous Netflix film yet to be made. I love that Kristian really lets the instrumental breath, just like the scenery passing by while you gaze out the car window.  Sends glad tidings of great joy straight to your glowing heart.
  • Deck The Halls ~ no, not that one. This is an original composition by Kristian and, if you haven't worked it out already, what is really incredible about these songs is how he makes the music feel just like the activities he sings about. Crunchy guitar and pulsing drums have an energy that crackles as loudly as any log fire, setting a scene where ornaments and decorations are pulled from boxes with enthusiastic glee. Play loud whenever you need a pick me up - joyful and triumphant feelings almost guaranteed!
  • Christmas Morning ~ the most wonderful time of the year deserves a song about its most magical moment; and here it is. There's an easy pace to the accompanying score that lets you savour every second of the song, each word lingering like a twinkling light on the tree. Kristian delivers the lyrics with a sense of awe and wonder and instead of being told how to feel, you feel every moment with him. As glorious as when Miss Davis asks for $17.50 in It's A Wonderful Life...
