One of the biggest inevitabilities for next season may well be a full Christmas album from ace country-pop music artists, Dan + Shay. They first immersed themselves in the spirit of the holidays nearly ten years ago when 2013 saw their debut Yuletide song - a cover of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. There was then a brief period in the seasonal wilderness until 2020 when more wintry tunes arrived, followed by another solstice song dropped last year. Heck, even if they just collated all their releases to date there would be a rather splendid EP that they could market in 2023 - meaning Santa would definitely put them on the nice list for yet another year in the row. For now, let's hope for a full album of mistletoe magic in 12 months whilst fully appreciating what you have in the moment.

Holiday Party is a sumptuous, romantic track all about (justifiably) not braving the weather for all the holiday merriment in convivial settings but hunkering down with a loved one to create (guess what?!) your own Christmas shin-dig for two. With a lush acoustic style guitar and shuffling percussion, the lads deliver textured vocals that make it sound like the best Christmas ever (particularly love the cheeky line "We'll be jingle-bell rockin'/til the neighbours come knockin'"). Pick Out A Christmas Tree continues the romantic vibe by making the hustle and bustle of picking out this year's overgrown sapling sound like the dreamiest date night you can imagine. Finger click grooves, vibrant horn riffs and their genuinely emotive vox make this sparkle like the lights on the most ornate (and titular) tree...
