Just as The Killers stopped releasing a new Christmas song every year, the American Authors stepped up to the festive plate and now celebrate a fourth consecutive year of unwrapping a new holiday song for all to enjoy. Sometimes they are witty, sometimes heartfelt - always a real treat; this year, they've gone for a beautifully constructed tale of love and togetherness in This Christmas Eve. There's a charming nostalgia to the song that is enhanced by some enchanting piano riffs and warming guitar strumming. Zac leads the story of Christmas Eves from days gone by - those that went well as well those that were unexpected. He paints a vivid picture with the lyrics so you are transported as a willing passenger on his journey to the past before he brings you back to present day and reflecting on how life has changed & he couldn't be happier. Textured vocals are subtly infused, as magical as snow drifting over the streets and just as intricate. Now six songs deep into their Great American Authors Festive Songbook and seeing what they do next is definitely my favourite time of year...
