After treating us to a Fairytale back in 2019 (including the Kylie Minogue co-write Every Christmas Day), Saara Aalto is back and unlocking more musical magic from the most wonderful time of the year. She returns to the Great Christmas Songbook to unwrap a cover of the David Foster/Natalie Cole standard, Grown Up Christmas List - sung in her native tongue and all the more beautiful because of it. Joululahjalista is the wish for a world where things just turn out right for a change - and Saara conveys that achingly yearning sentiment beautifully. Whether you are familiar with the English language lyrics or not doesn't matter because music is universal; the mellifluous piano chords ensconce Saara's vocal with a warming comfort, whilst elegant strings sweep in like the first snow on the plains. It is exquisitely put together and you can't help but be captivated by the soaring finale. Let's hope a holiday classic becomes an annual tradition for Ms Aalto.
