Ten years ago this very day, I was discovering the music of Jessie James Decker via her holiday single, This Christmas. Some years later came a whole EP of holiday songs (Decker The Halls) and, because Christmas music is a commitment for life, Ms Decker is back making spirits bright with a vibrant new cover of Winter Wonderland. She's teamed up with Jamey Johnson, both country music royalty, to create a ho-ho-ho down, feel good, guitar driven romp. Jingling bells and a shuffling percussion highlights both their equally charming vocal delivery, while the music shimmies along just like lights glittering on the most jolly of trees. There's even a key change which adds a little frisson of anticipation to the song - and by the time Jessie ends the track by declaring "that was fun" you're ready to brace the freezing cold and singing along in the elements to maximise this infectious ditty's impact!
