American Authors - Holiday Hoedown

I love that, for a fifth consecutive year now, the American Authors are penning their own Great Christmas Songbook with more festive music to make your holiday playlist sparkle like the lights on the tree. As well as their own compositions, they've added some eclectic flavour via some well chosen cover versions but always performed in their own engaging style. This year, it's a Holiday Hoedown as song seven is added to the ever growing EP (named after their first seasonal single, My Favorite Time of the Year). They've embraced a very country Christmas vibe down your local boozer, another convivial sing-along that has a huge hand clap, toe tap vibe with chanted riffs that make you feel joyfl and triumphant. Lyrics that paint a party of Christmas Card scene are accompanied by gleeful banjo, delirious fiddle and percussive grooves that swirl like the best peppermint bark candies. It captures the merriment and chaos of the season without sounding chaotic itself - here's to more Yuletide songs next year (perhaps with a physical release now it's pretty much an album of material)!
