Matt Zarley - Don't Save It All For Christmas Day

12 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

Read my review of Matt's I JUST KNEW single here

I do love a bit of Matt Zarley I do :) He's consistently one of the most expressive, nuanced singers I know and his music never fails to lift my spirits and stir my senses. Imagine my delight then when he chose to not only release a Christmas song but chose to do a cover of the Avalon classic Don't Save It All For Christmas Day. The song is perfect for Matt - both vocally and as the type of message his music conveys. He's definitely a glass half full type of guy and part of the joy inherent in his music is discovering the hope and optimism he can find in any situation. Don't Save It All For Christmas Day examines how there is a need for love, compassion and charity in the world beyond the feel good-do good aura of the holiday season and how we should perhaps harness those festive sentiments all year round to make us better people - and make a better world to live in. Matt is the perfect narrator of this timely and still contemporary & necessary message, imbuing the lyrics with an earnest sensitivity when appropriate and fueling the music with a passionate conviction that makes that soaring chorus fly higher than the brightest star. He's gifted with mellifluous vocals that make every song he sings feel like a showstopping performance - and the trick to this song is not to make it feel like a judgement on the listener. Matt smartly avoids this pitfall and instead engenders a feeling of encouragement and motivation that will hopefully inspire long after the season of goodwill has finished. I often tell people I want the season to last all year long and Matt brings the reasoning behind this wish to life with an eloquence I can never quite muster. An entirely gorgeous rendition of a beautiful song - I would expect nothing less from the talented chappy :) Hopeful romantic and believer in the goodness of mankind, Matt Zarley I salute you.
