It's particularly hard to bring something new to the oft covered and perfect-in-it's-orginal-format Mariah classic All I Want For Christmas Is You but the lovely boys known as Out Of The Blue may well have done just that. With a jolly delightful video to accompany the perennial festive favourite, the chaps of the Glee-esque troupe have bought a cheeky charm and vibrant vocals to the song. All smartly suited and booted (as one would expect of such a prestigious vocal harmony group), the song starts off in grandiose Cathedral settings with a selection of sterling soulful solo vocals all infusing the well known lyrics with passion and panache as they breathe new life into Mariah's glittering bauble. Melisma swirls around those serendipitous backing harmonies that melt through the melody like caramel dripping into hot chocolate. As the tempo increases thanks to the vocal acrobatics of the lads, it's as effusive and glorious as if a whole orchestra and band were accompanying them. The visual treats are just as exhilarating as the aural ones with the boys giving us dance realness, santa hat jig merriment and Christmas jumper magnificence all whilst staying true to the exuberant nature of the original (and never serving less than vocal excellence throughout). There's definitely a hint of tongue in cheek and witty irreverence within the video but there's nothing but conviction in the singing that brings the lyrics into vivid focus. I couldn't be more smitten if I tried - and as it's all for an excellent charitable cause (click on the link above to read more about the Helen Douglas House charity) you not only receive seasonal happiness from the song but a nice toasty inside glow from giving :) A mini Christmas miracle of marvelousness :D

(Plus with so many fellas tra la la-ing and twirling about it's a veritable pick and mix of choice with a fella of every type you could wish for. Personally I think Jack R would look good wrapped up underneath my tree :D)
