It may have been released in 2014, but Christmas With Nick and Simon (by Dutch pop duo Nick and Simon!) is the seasonal gift that keeps on giving. I've always felt that the mark of a great Christmas album is how often it returns to your playlist year after year to soundtrack all your holiday memories - and this album is just as exquisitely delightful after 12 months as it was when it first came out. The smart artists realise that they are in for the long haul when they release an album full of holiday tunes which is probably why Nick & Simon have some festive concerts lined up (despite having a non-seasonal album to promote)! I, sadly, won't get to see these concerts as they haven't made it to the UK yet (there's always next year, boys) but that's what YouTube is for; to bring that experience right into your living room. One of my favourite songs on the album was performed live on television last year and demonstrates what charming performers the fellas are. Christmas Time With You was performed with a live orchestra, amid a glittering cavalcade of Christmas trees and our intrepid duo looking rather spiffy all suited and booted for your pleasure. It's a song that encapsulates all the child like wonder and awe that Christmas brings, is as epic and grandiose as anything you will hear this Yuletide, thanks to vibrant horns, elegant strings and chiming bells - and definitely gets extra points for having as many key changes as Beyonce's Love On Top. It leaves you tingling from head to mistletoe with merriment and cheer, infusing your very being with the essence of Christmas spirit. It helps that the guys sound joyful AND triumphant whilst singing it, and in the clip above look as if they are having the time of their lives doing so. It's an enthusiasm and love for the time of year that's absolutely infectious. If you are not thoroughly saturated in festive merriment by now then you need to check your pulse you grinchy scrooge. Tremendous!
