32 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

Britain's premiere girl group, Little Mix, have only gone and released a Christmas song. Oh sure, there was that rather charming remix of Love Me Like You which threw in some jingles, but this is their first proper seasonal song. And One I've Been Missing is a melancholy message of hope that captures the way emotions are heightened as the holidays approach. As Love, Actually taught us, Christmas is the time to wear your heart on your sleeve because sometimes magic happens - and the four ladies of Little Mix have encapsulated that into an enchanting mid-tempo ballad. Their tale of lost love and redemption tackle themes we (sadly) are probably all too familiar with from some point in our lives, but rarely is it set to such lush instrumental and swooning vocals. Individually and together, each of the group imbue their voices with a sense of poignant sadness that is perfectly balanced with a sense of determination. This is matched by the gradually textured score which builds into a fully layered wall of sound with chimes, a shuffling beat and an angelic gospel choir, sending their message to the heavens. The refrain is as indelible as any of their other smashes, building to a melisma powered finale that leaves you sure that this is one musical attempt at a reunion that won't go awry. And with a delicate nod to another Christmas classic at the end, you are left glowing like the lights on the tree. Magic.
