31 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

I had high expectations when I heard Mabel was releasing a Christmas single - and, although it is not a whistle and bells stomper, I am not disappointed with the results. Loneliest Time Of The Year is a poignant reminder that not everything is merry and bright for everyone during the holiday season; for some, the merriment of the festivities only make their sorrow more pronounced. Mabel brings these feelings to life with a shimmering beauty of a song that does indeed add jingling bells alongside the graceful piano and shuffling beats. It is this lilting score that makes the heartache of her lyrics seem so vivid - and that is part of her mellifluous message; surely there are others who feel these sentiments as the Yuletide consumes you. Singing this song together can no doubt ease a bit of that pathos by making it a soothing call to arms, relieving the heartache note by exquisite note. And really, isn't that what Christmas is all about? Reaching out to others and sharing kindness? Mabel has crafted a rather lovely song that will tug at your heartstrings but leave you with a tiny little bit of sparkling hope that next year just may be different. Absolutely charming.
