Wrabel - (It Wouldn't Be) Christmas Without You

31 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

There are at least four reasons to buy the new Christmas song (It Wouldn't Be) Christmas Without You by singer-songwriter Wrabel. Firstly, it's Wrabel so you know you are guaranteed a memorable hook and meaningful lyrics, sung with emotive sincerity. Secondly, that rather splendid single cover is all sorts of elegance; giving me 70s Home and Leisure magazine realness with a sartorial style I could only hope to achieve. Next is the fact that he uses parenthesis in the title of the song - something I've loved since the Pet Shop Boys made it a regular feature of their releases. And lastly, but perhaps most important, it is a Christmas song - and a rather charming one at that. Set to a lovely, languorous finger click groove, this is a r'n'b influenced ballad all about missing the one you love at the most wonderful time of the year. There is a genuine sense of aching in Wrabel's passionate vocal whilst sumptuous backing vocals and chiming keyboard add to a picture perfect winter wonderland scene. You can almost imagine Wrabel walking through bustling shoppers, just counting down the days until he is reunited with his paramour. The chorus soars like the highest star in the heavens, while a key change gives all sorts of chills and brings the message home. Enchanting.
