Well, this is absolutely charming isn't it? The gorgeous, timeless vocal tones of Celeste have been chosen to soundtrack this year's John Lewis advert (quite honestly their finest since Bear and Hare) via the lovely, lilting ballad A Little Love. Fred Rogers once said "when I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping'". This song (and the accompanying clip) are the musical manifestation of that belief. Perhaps the most delightful pop lullaby since Madonna's Dear Jessie, the lyrics paint a hopeful picture of a utopia we can all create by the random acts of kindness we have in our gift to share with those around us. Accompanied by a chiming music box keyboard and elegant strings, they work in symbiotic harmony with her heartfelt vocal that just shines with a wide-eyed sense of optimism. You truly get the sense that Celeste believes in the magic of humanity's greatest emotion - and that emotive delivery in her singing is utterly contagious. It is enough to make you believe in a better tomorrow all over again. The race for the Christmas number one starts here.
