I love that I get to write about an artist's Christmas contributions on the same day that I'd praised their work previously. Just two years ago, I was rather smitten with Alessia Cara's Make It To Christmas - a song I described as delicious and satisfying as a Starbucks new Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. That song is now a standard on my seasonal playlist, reminding me of memories from Christmases past while being the soundtrack to new holiday experiences. Amazon Music have surely not needed to use much of their persuasive powers to get Alessia to record a glorious new version of Jingle Bell Rock, available exclusively on their platform this very year. There's a sweeping elegance to the score that takes you back to the glamorous sound stages of the Hollywood musicals of the 50s, with playful strings and a shuffling percussion crafting aural images of winter wonderlands.
