Last Christmas, Jessica Andersson asked 'Do You Hear The Bells' and yes, yes I do - and I'm ready for them to chime me through until Christmas Morning. This is also the title of her Ms Andersson's new single, a song all about the charm and magic of the most exciting day of the year. Set to a lush piano and elegant guitar, this is a descriptive ode to the power of love and how it makes everything seem that little more radiant. Jessica's voice is full of hushed wonder and awe during the verses, but then soars during the chorus where the music swells and the joy she sings of wraps around the listener like sparkly paper around a present. The swell of music in the final chorus is a ravishing conclusion - and one can imagine the power of the song when sung live in concert. It is the type of glorious ballad that the likes of Celine and Whitney used to regularly take to the top of the charts - that timeless yet timely tune that feels familiar yet fresh at the same time. Leaves you tingling with glad tidings of great joy (from head to mistletoe).
