I don't think a Christmas has gone by in recent times when I haven't had the privilege of writing about the VoicePlay lads transforming a holiday classic with just the acrobatic, flexible power of their impressive voices. This year, they have teamed up with Jose Rosario Jr to sprinkle a little peppermint winter magic over a selection box of Christmas film soundtracks faves via their Holiday Movie Mini Medley. It really is a whizz bang whistle stop tour that requires multiple viewings to appreciate the nuance of their arrangements - they start with a lushly layered Christmas Vacation (Mavis Staples - criminally never released as a single) before taking on Christmas Is All Around (from the greatest holiday movie ever made, Love Actually); Geoff's deep vocal continues to astound whilst Layne gives rhythmic excellence that knits these interpretations together. Jose is a great addition to the team whilst Cesar gives a Kevin McCallister level finale (that makes me want to see him do the "KEVIN" moment from Home Alone 2 whilst the family collect their luggage). It's like a theme park ride set to music - all twists and turns that leave you giddy and breathless for more...
