Rozalla - The Christmas Song/Everybody's Free

Ever since Kylie co-opted Everybody's Free (To Feel Good) for the 2016 Boots Christmas campaign (as well as her own Snow Queen edition of Kylie Christmas) I've secretly been longing for a Rozalla Christmas single. And she has delivered not one but two seasonal songs which feels like a wonderful throw back to the double-A sided singles from yester-year. I love that Everybody's Free has been retitled (To Feel The Festive Swing); an updating that gives you an open invitation to embrace the merriment of the holidays whilst shimmying away wherever you may be. It is a complete transformation of the song into a delectable big band style song where sweeping strings, cascading keyboards and chimes swathe Rozalla's engaging vocal in finger-click, jazzy undertones. She sounds in her absolute element and it is a sentiment that is contagious as she sings her feel good lyrics. 

When you've recovered from the sassy blasts of horns and sumptuous wall of sound, you can immerse yourself in Matt Pop's mix of The Christmas Song. A perky, peppy beat feels like the clippity clop of the reindeer hooves galloping across your roof; meanwhilst an infusion of choral style backing gives the illusion of a choir of angels singing this song right alongside Rozalla. It is giddy and glorious all at once, Rozalla becoming a most enchanting narrator of this timeless tale in a way that leaves you feeling merry and bright. Normally delivered as a ballad, this brings out the joy of the lyrics and has you jingling your bells in fizzy delight. For those that want something a bit more traditional for those cosy evenings with a Bailey's and mince pie, the More Cole On The Fire mix is exquisitely elegant in sincerity and execution.
