59 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!

I love an audacious bow on an album cover - just like Kylie Minogue on Kylie Christmas, Mickey Guyton is all wrapped up for the holiday season and ready to ensure she is responsible for the sensation that it feels like Christmas. Her 8-track festive opus of the same name is joyful and triumphant from start to finish, a glorious melange of new Christmas music with some festive favourites thrown in for good measure. I do adore that Mickey is starting the season pre-Mariah defrosting - my mum always said that a Christmas album should be released a good two months before the big day so you could maximise enjoyment before packing it away for revisiting year after year after year. For a good Christmas album is life, not just the season it was released - and Mickey has put together a bobby dazzler of a Yuletide collection...
The feel good vibes are present from track one when Mickey urges you to Save A Little Christmas For Me. Jingling bells, perky piano as exhilarating as any sleigh ride and Mickey's effusive vocal all coalesce to this sumptuous knees up all about being with the ones you love for the festivities. Instantly infectious, this is a future classic you'll be singing all the live long day. Sugar Cookie continues the uptempo magic, a lovely Darlene Love style inspired song with seductive lyrics being something you want to take a big bite of. Metaphors abound on this clever, poetic thirst-fest, delivered with just the right amount of wink wink nudge nudge. If you are suitably titillated for some Mistletoe Kisses with your paramour after such shenanigans, Mickey's got just the right romantic romp for you. This mid-tempo ballad is as steamy as whipped cream melting into the most delicious hot chocolate...
The album's first full ballad is an absolute charmer. Feels Like Christmas sees Mickey lyrically recreate all the sights, sounds and sentiments that bring to life all your dormant memories of the most wonderful time of the year. There's a spiritual element to the song that will be welcome to those who want to keep that central to their celebrations; it is all set to a glorious, lolloping beat that wraps round you like the cosiest of Christmas sweaters. The tempo amps back up for It Won't Be Christmas, a song so sparkling and radiant it could power the lights on the Rockefella tree for a month. Chiming bells, lavish production, a shoulder shimmying beat and vibrant vocals from the lady herself are one Christmas calculation that add up to something that is magic and sparkle. And all this before you even get to a goosebump inducing key change that takes the finale to the next level. Utter bliss.
A Christmas party isn't a party without guests - and Michael Bolton responded RSVP on the holiday single Christmas Isn't Christmas. Michael is no stranger to Christmas himself and helps Mickey wish upon a Christmas star to be with her paramour at a season where one is definitely the loneliest number. Finger clicking musical alchemy. The revelries take a pause for a stunning take on my favourite Christmas carol, O Holy Night. It is in excellent hands with Ms Guyton, a gradual crescendo of vocal strength where words are imbued with just the right power to give them the majesty they deserve. Then, as if the snow starts to fall at midnight, Mickey enquires Do You Want To Build A Snowman - taking the Disney Frozen classic and making it into a ravishing country infused R&B ballad, all the hope and sorrow of the lyrics so ever present in her nuanced vocal. The ultimate lullaby to take you to the big day.
