Dami Im - O Holy Night

I'm always appreciative when singers return to the most wonderful time of the year annually to add to their own catalogue of Christmas songs. This is the third year in a row I've been able to write about the festive music of Dami Im - thoroughly enjoying how she is building her own streaming version of a Christmas carol concert. Following last year's exquisite take on Silent Night, this year she unwraps a sterling version of my favourite carol, O Holy Night. I've seen clips online of her performing this over the years so am very happy to get such a beautifully produced studio version. The song opens as an understated piano-vocal duet, with the focus on the wonder of the words that Dami sings with crystalline precision. The important crescendos add in elegant strings and focus on the emphasis in Dami's voice rather than making it overly bombastic - giving it just as much impact. It builds into a lovely, textured wall of sound, with Dami surrounded by a choir of angels singing her song. Completely captivating.
