For 9 Christmas seasons now, Tom Fletcher and his festive creation The Christmasaurus have been part of the holiday reading schedule. Not only has he created a whole winter wonderland with that character, he also bought it to life through song with a soundtrack to accompany the book (and a one off stage show that I'm still hoping will return). He's bought the same melodic, thoughtful magic to his work on West End's most enchanting new musical - Paddington. It really is a delight to see one of Britain's most loved characters come to life on the stage; and to make Christmas sparkle a little bit more, Tom has released a special version of One Of Us from said musical. On stage, it is sung by Mrs Brown who wants to remind her friends and neighbours about what it means to show kindness to those who may not be exactly like us. Beautifully crafted, Tom imbues his performance with the same nuanced emotion, letting the timely sentiments glisten like the most radiant bauble on the tree. Throw in the swell of orchestra and lavish piano and it all coalesces to be a musical hug of a song. It may not be a Christmas song in the traditional sense but it works wonders - and is the type of wintry classic you will be able to listen to all the live long year.
